William A. “Tony” Lavelle

Tony Lavelle is a former enlisted Sergeant in the United States Army Airborne, and commissioned officer with the United States Air Force Security Police, now partner with Detection Support Services (DSS), an explosive detection dog (EDD) company. He is also the Advisory Board Chairman for the International Explosive Detection Dog Association (IEDDA). Following his military career, Tony was recruited as an adjunct professor of criminal justice, California State University , Sacramento . His course specialties included international and domestic terrorism, law enforcement organization, leadership, and criminal investigation. DSS supports physical security missions, executive protection, and special operations for federal and state governments, law enforcement agencies, and multi-national corporations. In 2003, DSS deployed 20 bomb dog teams to Iraq --in 19 days—to support US Forces engaged in Operation Iraqi Freedom. In their first six months on the ground, DSS-EDD teams found improvised explosive devices, explosives, and arms supplies. Tony holds a masters of science degree in Criminal Justice.
